Confession of Sin

God of grace and mercy, we praise you for your goodness. You are our Maker and Friend. We come to you admitting our absolute need for your wisdom, your guidance, your forgiveness. We are lost without you. We are guilty of neglecting you, even willfully running from you. Thank you for the blood of Jesus and for your gracious Holy Spirit who seeks, challenges us and restores us. Give us minds and hearts that are eager to do your holy and good will. In Jesus name Amen.

Scripture Reading

Romans 10:1-4

Brothers,my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. 2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

Leaning on the everlasting arms

“For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”

Matthew 5:20
