Overview • Four Week Course • Discuss the four essential skills • Week One: Critical Thinking Skills • Week Two: Communication Skills • Week Three: Leadership skills. • You will have to know how to operate this company if we’re not here. • Week Four: Planning skills. • At the End = Final examination • By coming to all these sessions and getting a good score +
Critical Thinking • Description: • means making reasonable judgments. • Importance in the Workplace: • if you need to make a tough decision you will be able to figure out what the right decision is • you’ll know how to deal with the problem at hand.
Continued.. • Week One Scenario: • You will meet in the board room, complete worksheets and then meet at a park. • Procedure • Receive a worksheet that looks like this • Meet in park • Receive brand new environment for problem solving
Desired Outcome • think for themselves • should be able to complete the park task • situate themselves in a new environment • rack your brain with so many problems
Communication Skills • Teach employees how to communicate properly • Effectively express their opinion • We will teach them how to: • 1. Send clear, concise messages. • 2. Hear and correctly understand messages someone is sending to them. • Importance In workplace: • if you do not know how to, there is no way a job can get done
Continued… • Scenario: • We are going to pair you up with a partner • Two of you will do various activities together: • make a PowerPoint • three legging race • sack race • We will rotate your partners every so often so you have a chance to work with everybody there. • Procedure: • Create a PPT of a classmate interview and present it • Go to the park for various activites • Pair and participate in races • You will then complete projects on this site
