Future outlook for Latin America wind power • Latin America is expected to reach 46 GW of total installed wind capacity by 2025 • Latin America’s annual growth rate in wind power is 12.6% • Brazil will have 31.6 GW installed by 2025 • Mexico will have 6.6 GW installed by 2025 • Argentina will have 4 GW installed by 2025 • Total investment in Latin America wind turbine markets will scale from 1 Billion USD in 2009 to more than 2.2 Billion USD by 2015 • According to studies, European players will dominate the market in the near term, but local players will challenge them from 2015 • There is potential short term potential for Finnish wind turbine manufacturers and long-term potential also for component manufacturers • Brazil demands more than 300 turbines annually starting in 2011 Source: Latin America Wind Power Markets and Strategies 2010-2025

Mexico Current installed capacity: 517 MW (end 2010) Target capacity: 2000 MW by 2012 Colombia Current installed capacity: 20 MW (end 2010) Several projects under consideration, including a 200MW project in Ipapure Guatemala At the moment there are no wind power generation in the country. Venezuela 100 MW is under construction The intention is to built 1500 MW capacity within the next five years Nicaragua Current installed capacity: 40 MW (end 2010) 39,6 MW additional capacity is being planned Costa Rica Current installed capacity: 23 MW (end 2010) 50 MW additional capacity is under construction Brazil Current installed capacity: 931 MW (end 2010) By 2013 Brazil is aiming to increase its wind power capacity by more than 4000 MW Peru Current installed capacity: 1 MW (end 2010) Almost 150 MW additional capacity is under construction and 750 MW is in evaluation Uruguay Current installed capacity: 43 MW (end 2010) Target capacity: 550 MW by 2015 Chile Current installed capacity: 172 MW (end 2010) Chile is aiming to increase its wind energy capacity by 2000 MW in the near future. Waste sector trends in Latin America • The governments promote plans for waste management and public/private partnerships in the waste sector • Increasing number of biogas plants; waste to energy plants; integral waste management plants • Decreasing number of informal landfills • There are several CDM projects in waste sector in Latin America • Example Colombia from 2006 to 2008: • Number of landfills grew from 195 to 254 • Integrated waste management centers from 34 to 59 • Unofficial landfills decreased from 46 to 19 • There is potential for Finnish companies in waste transportation, recycling, waste management, biogas and energy generation

Water sector • Latin America is investing much in waste water treatment in the following years (actual waste water treatment levels are 30%-60% and the targets for 2012 are 60%-100%) • Energy generation out of wastewater sludge is being developed in several cities • Mexico and Finland will be signing a MoU in the water sector this year • There is potential for Finnish companies in small waste water treatment plants, piping, biogas and energy generation, meteorological systems, measuring systems, waste water treatment technology, consulting

Offshore & oil sector in Latin America • There is potential for Finnish companies in offshore solutions, security system, measuring systems, consulting PEMEX investments 25 BUSD/year Ecopetrol investments 8,5 BUSD/year Oil sector investments 2 BUSD/year Petrobras investments 55 BUSD/year Oil sector investments 2 BUSD/year

Refinary projects in Mexico & Peru Up-coming oil refinary tender: • PEMEX will be building a mega refinary that will be processing 161,000 daily barrels of petroleum and 125,000 of diesel. • The complex comprises 17 factories and 840 km of piping Up-coming petrochemical refinary: • Petroperu is evaluating a petrochemical refinary of 2 Billion USD • Petroperu will be upgrading old refinary with 1,3 Billion USD Up-coming bio jet fuel project: • Mexico will need annually 40 Million litres of bio jet fuel in 2015 and 700 Million litres by 2020 • A demostration flight with bio jet fuel out of jatropha was made 4.4.2011 • There is an on-going evaluation project of the possible players for establishing a refinary in Mexico • Opportunities for Finnish oil companies, pumps, ventiles, insulation, heat exchangers

  10. CDM projects • Top countries for CDM registrations in the world are: China, India, Brazil, Mexico, Malaysia • Chile, Mexico, Brazil and Peru are the most prominent investment climates in Larin America for CDM projects • Potential for Finnish consulting companies and technology providers

Investments in pulp production in Chile • Investments in existing production lines: • Arauco Valdivia • L: +55 000 t/y and S: +55 000 t/y in year 2011 • Arauco Nueva Aldea • L: + 75 000 t/y and S: +75 000 t/y • CMPC Laja • L: +105 000 t/y in years 2010-2013 • CMPC Santa Fe • S: 350 000 t/y in years 2010-2013 • There are no plans to build up new lines in Chile • Arauco II (in Constitution) is still standing – at least the first quarter 2011 • S = Bleached Pulp - Short fiber • L = Bleached Pulp - Long fiber
