  1. ITPA – CDBMH-mode threshold databaseIGDBTH summaryOctober 2005 - St-Petersburg Yves Martin Centre de Recherches en Physique des Plasmas Association Euratom - Confédération Suisse Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) CH - 1015 Lausanne, Switzerland

  2. DB status • New version of the DB on the server in Garching (29.4.05) • No new data since last meeting • Work on V.Mukhovatov's question about different Kamada's scalings • Scalings different density dependence: 0.5 and 1.5 • Full IGDBTH database supports the ne0.5

  3. D.McDonald's paper on Max. Likelyhood • Paper • was presented at the IAEA TM last week • shows that the error in variables induces bias when scaling are calculated with OLS method • shows the new scalings when errors in variable are taken into account (and not) with the Maximum Likelyhood (ML) method • Predictions for ITER with the new scalings show an increased threshold power

  4. Recommended scaling • V.Mukhovatov presented the reasons for requiring a unique recommended scaling • If PLH = 70MW • Operation with type I ELMs could be problematic • Access to hybrid regime could be difficult • Discussion on 'One recommended scaling' • It was decided to evaluate • one scaling with the full dataset • one scaling with the reduced ITER like shape and heating dataset • with the traditional variables (ne, Bt and S) • larger ne dependence in large machine • no aspect ratio dependence with S only • with the OLS method • Influence of errors will be checked

  5. Future work • New data • NSTX, MAST (MV), JFT-2M (TT will push), CHS • Papers • IAEA 2006 • Participation in EPS and APS papers (with confinement) • Recommended scaling • 2 new datasets in DB, release of DB 4v6 (YM) • Scaling evaluation with these datasets and checks (All) • Influence of errors (DMD) • Other Work • Variation of ne and Bt dependence with tokamak size (YM, DMD, TT, ...?)
