  1. Status of L-mode database Special issue in WMHD, WDIA F. Imbeaux

  2. Status • Latest version of the database is v3.2, available at http://www-itpa0d.cea.fr : • includes ASDEX L mode data collected by O. Kardaun • and small corrections on T10 data as suggested by A. Chudnovsky • A journal paper about beta scaling of the L mode DB is in preparation (cf last year EPS contribution by D. Elbeze)

  3. WDIA, WMHD, and WTOT • One year ago, J. De Boo and S. Kaye explained that many values of WDIA and WMHD may have been corrupted. For DIII-D : • WMHD is found anomalously large with respect to WTOT. Same feature spotted for PBXM, CMOD. • WDIA is missing while it was provided to the DB • WTOT is correct, and consistent with WTH. • Here is a summary of the DB status regarding this issue

  4. WDIA, WMHD, and WTOT • The values of WDIA/WTOT and WMHD/WTOT have been checked. • Seem « anomalous » if lower than 0.7 or greater than 1.3 • The whole L mode DB v3.2 has been checked. • Note that these problems come from very early versions of the database (before v1.7), and actually we do not know how to tackle them.

  5. WDIA, WMHD, and WTOT • Tokamaks that have consistent values of WMHD, WDIA, and WTOT (when provided) : ALCC, ASDEX, AUG, FT, FTU, HL1M, NSTX, RTP, START, T10, TSUPRA • Tokamaks that have a systematically wrong WMHD/WTOT : D3D (factor ~ 2), PBXM (factor ~ 3). D3D has also lost some data (WDIA was provided, but is not in the LDB since v1.7 at least). For D3D, we know that WTOT is correct while WMHD has been corrupted. • Tokamaks that have at least a few shots with anomalous WMHD, WDIA, though most of the entries seem correct : DIII, JET, CMOD, JFT2M, JT60U, PDX , TDEV, TEXTOR, TFTR. A detailed list of the suspect shots is available.

  6. WDIA, WMHD, and WTOT • How to solve the problem ? • Who has kept track of data older than version v1.7 ? • Check against original submission files ? Resubmissions needed ? • For tokamaks that have only a few anomalous entries, data providers could check the data (detailed list will be sent). • A priori, WTOT and TAUTOT are not affected  scalings are ok. However, it would be nice to tidy up the DB if possible.

  7. Volunteering data providers • D3D : • PBXM : • DIII : • JET : • CMOD : • JFT2M : • JT60U : • PDX : • TDEV : • TEXTOR : • TFTR :
