Similes and Metaphors are EVERYWHERE! Here are two well known songs. Which has the simile? Which has a metaphor? Metaphors aren’t restricted to one line. A metaphor that is longer than a line, and that can encompass an entire piece/poem, is called an extended metaphor.
Is there really a road? What might the road stand for? What might the “undergrowth” represent? What might the “grassy” path represent? The narrator chose the second path—the grassy one—what does this represent? Is he actually walking down a path?
