  1. MUSIC&POSTMODERNISM BY MAUD START

  2. E. Ann Kaplan • E. Ann Kaplan wrote a book on POSTMODERNIST MUSIC. • Rocking Around The Clock. • In it she states that ‘MTV is the • definitive version of postmodernist • Music.’ • She describes the postmodernist properties of MTV within the views of cultural studies and screen theory, even though by definition postmodernist MTV is a constantly changing format that defies generalizations.

  3. LADYgAGAAccused of being a postmodernist

  4. madonna • Look at how Lady Gaga has used the same look of the conical bra, which once was seen as highly controversial when Madonna used it in April 1990. • The recycling of a successful image can be seen as postmodernism. • Following the theory that ‘Culture eats itself’. Nothing is new.

  5. Music video in the postmodernist world • READY, ABLE • I have found this music video which I believe is postmodernist as it does not include the classic values of a music video. It uses stop motion and does not advertise the main singer. There are no people in it which is quite uncommon in music videos these days, as they are generally used to promote the artist/s and their music. • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Puph1hejMQE

  6. DIAMONDS ARE A GIRLS BEST FRIEND • Marylin Monroe became a popular postmodernist figure due to her outstandingly admired image. • We can see this when we see Madonna do her version of ‘Material Girl’, the similarity between the mise en scene, vocals, costume and props have linking similarities that are almost unmissable.
