  2. Symptoms and Description of a Phobia Feeling of anxiety Inability to function Awareness that the fear is unreasonable and you just can’t help it Heart races, sweating, feeling of suffocation Hot and cold flashes Dizziness, lightheadedness Symptoms are onset when exposed to the fear

Known causes/reasons for disorder • Genetics- phobic disorders may run in families • Experience- traumatic experiences that mentally and emotionally scar you • What classification of mental health disorders does this fall under? : • Anxiety- Phobic disorders are classified as anxiety mental health disorders, because the phobia causes irrational and unreasonable fears.

Impact on Daily Life • Stop them from working • Can put them in a depression • Cause panic attacks • Makes it hard to complete normal everyday tasks • Can cause hygiene problems • Cause family problems • How can this disorder impact an individual’s family or friends? • Can cause a lot of stress • Cause loss of friends • Cause problems at workplaces • Can cause the loss of jobs for a family or friend • Cause to spend more money then they have • Cause extra work done by family and friends
