Challenges in Operations In the facilities: • Managing needs with resources • Meeting expectation of campus community • Keeping the space relevant and purposeful With staff: • Creating common vision amongst operations, housekeeping and maintenance staff • Communication • Access and Approachability

  4. Challenges in Programming In the facilities • Square peg in the round hole • Flexibility • Policies, procedures and roadblocks • Does that really cost money? With staff • Balancing role with students • Access to resources to meet the need and demand • Contracts, limitations, and audience development

  5. Meeting each other’s needs through programming and operations • Finding a Common Goal/Shared Outcome • Building Partnerships • Understanding each others role and duties • Engaging students on both sides • No more assumptions

Your Challenge In your small group, discuss the following: • What do you need to know or learn about operations/programming? • How do you think you can be successful? • What do you typically trip over/on in this relationship? • What do you start to do differently to enhance the relationship back home? • What do you stop doing to enhance the relationship back home? • What is your biggest “take away” from this workshop? • What is the most important aspect of your work do you wish your operations/programming colleagues would understand?
