  3. Florida’s Natural Resources • Florida lacks many minerals and oils, but is rich in phosphate. • There are many different types of plants (palm trees pine, Orange trees, cypress, and dogwood) • Citrus Industry • Alligators and the American Crocodile are unique to Florida

  4. Florida’s Population • Florida is home to many Spanish-speaking and Haitian-Creole speaking people • Florida’s diversity is due to its close proximity with islands such as Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Haiti. • Cities such as Miami, St. Augustine, and Ybor City have been influenced greatly by Spanish and Cuban culture.

  5. Florida Tourism • Tourism brings the money • The climate and a variety of recreational activities keep people coming. • International flights fly into Miami, Orlando, Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale • The white sandy beaches

  6. Religion • With a little less than 50% Florida is mostly Protestant • 26% of Floridians are Catholic • 3% are Jewish • All of these religious groups could have been influenced by the founders and explorers of this state
