  2. Simile • Simile-using like or as to compare 2 things. Example : I was snug as a bug in my blanket.

  3. Metaphor • Metaphor : Comparing 2 things without using like or as; something is something else. • Example :He is the sun of her sky.

  4. Hyperbole • Hyperbole- Using exaggerations. • Example: I ran liked greased lightning.

  5. Onomatopoeia • Onomatopoeia –Sound word • Example : The thunder boomed then the lightning cracked.

  6. Alliteration • Alliterations-Repetition of beginning sound. • Example: The cat crawled under the car.

  7. Personification • Personification- Giving human qualities to something not human. Example: The camera loves me!

  8. Idiom • Idiom-A well known expression. • Example : I was saved by the bell.
