  2. Tundra • A tundra is usually characterized by bare and sometimes rocky ground, the soil is frozen 10 inches to 3 feet down so trees cannot usually grow here. • Some examples of plants and animals found in this biome are: • The Arctic Fox • Caribou • Grizzly bear • Musk Ox • Polar Bear

Taiga • A Taiga is characterized by a cold and snowy climate, this biome usually contains mostly coniferous trees, Winters are cold and snowy while summers are warm, rainy and humid. • Some examples of plants and animals found in this biome are: • Bald eagle • Black bear • Gray wolf • Jack pine tree • And Douglas Firs

Temperate forest • A temperate forest biome is usually characterized by its distinct four seasons, During the fall the leaves of the trees turn color and during winter the trees lose their leaves. • Some examples of plants and animals found in this biome are: • The duck billed platypus • White tailed deer • Eastern chipmunk • European Red Squirrel • And the American Beech

  5. Tropical Rainforest A Tropical Rainforest biome is usually characterized by being overall warm all year and having rain fall around 100 inches a year. • Some examples of plants and animals found in this biome are: • Chimpanzees • King Cobra • Linn’s sloth • Bengal bamboo • And Strangler figs

  6. Grasslands • Grassland biomes are characterized by large rolling fields of grass, flowers and herbs. Unreliable rainfall and fires prevent too many trees from growing. • Some examples of plants and animals found in this biome are: • Bumble bees • Badgers • Prairie dogs • Bobcats • and Indian Grass

  7. Desert • The Desert biome is characterized by low amount of rainfall each year. There are two kinds of deserts, Hot deserts and Cold deserts, Hot deserts. • Some examples of plants and animals found in this biome are: • Armadillo lizards • Coyotes • Cactus Wren • Desert tortoises • and Barrel cactus

  8. Salt Water • Salt water biomes are large bodies of water that contain salt, like oceans and seas, These tend to be larger then fresh water biomes. • Some examples of plants and animals found in this biome are: • Sea turtles • Sharks • Coral • Whales • and seaweed

  9. Fresh Water Fresh water biomes are bodies of water that do not contain salt, like lakes, rivers, and streams, These tend to be land locked. • Some examples of plants and animals found in this biome are: • Trout • Salmon • Ducks • Alligators • And Algae
