  14. SentenceswiththeSimplePast Structure: How do we make affirmative, negative and interrogative sentences with the simple past?

  15. Sentences Structure Affirmative form [subject + verb in the simple past + complement ] I watched TV yesterday. She studied a lot for the test. We went to Italy in our vacation.

  16. Negative form • Use the auxiliary DIDN´T (DID NOT) and the verb in the base form. I didn´twatch TV yesterday. (aux.) ( base form verb ) She didn´tstudy a lot for the test. Wedidn´t go to Italy on our last vacation.

  17. Negative form • ATTENTION: Do never use the auxiliary did or didn´t and the verb in the simple past like in the examples: I didn´t watchedTV yesterday. (aux.) (simple past) She didn´t studieda lot for the test. Wedidn´t went to Italy on our last vacation.

  18. Interrogative form • Place the auxiliaryDIDin the beginningof the sentence and use the verb in the base form. Did you watch TV yesterday? (auxiliary) (base form verb ) Did she study a lot for the test? Did they go to Italy on their vacation?

  19. Interrogative form • ATTENTION: Do never use the auxiliary did or didn´t and the verb in the simple past like in the examples: Did you watched TV yesterday? Did she studied a lot for the test? Did they went to Italy in their vacation?

  20. Questions words • The same rules for interrogative sentences apply. • Whatdidyou do yesterday? • I went to school. • Wheredid you travel to on your vacation? • We traveled to the beach.

  21. Whendid you watch the movie? I watched the movie last year. How manyMathexercises did she do? She did 30 Math exercises. Howdid you go to the party on Friday? I went to the party by taxi.
