Terminal Learning Objective (TLO) • ACTION: Provide Care to the Caregiver • CONDITION: Given a classroom environment, time for discussion, a Professional Quality Of Life Scale (PROQOL) survey, handouts, flip charts/markers, and practical exercises (PEs) • STANDARD: The student will identify his/her professional quality of life via completion of a survey. The student, working in small groups, will identify and discuss strategies for providing self-care in the operating environment.

  6. 7 Questions When did you last attend a unit social event? Have you moved without your spouse and family? How do you support the post-wide RS program? What is your reading program like (Formal & Informal)? When was the last time you had a ‘face-to-face’ with your endorser? What does ‘having fun’ mean to you? How many hours of uninterrupted sleep do you get?

  12. C2C Keep a journal (Paper/Pen or an app, like Momento). Express feelings through music or art. Start a “ritual” to transition from work daily--leave your cares & stresses in the workplace. (Yeah, right…) Foster relationships with 1 or 2 colleagues where you can safely & confidentially discuss bothersome issues.

  14. Leader Actions that Build UMT Resiliency Take care of YOURSELF. Monitor & assess your subordinates. Help subordinates develop a self-care plan. Place priority of effort to UMT(s) experiencing trauma & compassion fatigue. Be available & accessible to subordinates. Guard the personal time of your UMTs. Maintain a positive attitude during periods of adversity & challenge.

  15. Challenge How do we improve the religious well-being, readiness and resilience of care givers in order to strike a balance between self-care and care to others (during 13 years of persistent war)?

Review and Summary ACTION: Provide Care to the Caregiver (C2C) CONDITION: Given a classroom environment, time for discussion, a Professional Quality Of Life Scale (PROQOL) survey, handouts, flip charts/markers, and practical exercises (PEs) STANDARD: The student identified his/her professional quality of life via completion of a survey. The student worked with others to identify and discuss strategies for providing care to self and other chaplains and chaplain assistants in the operating environment.
