Agenda WARNING: PLEASE HAVE OUT ONE SHEET OF PAPER AND PEN/PENCIL—OR ELSE. 3rd Hour: Homework due 1 minute after the late bell. Warm up: Review of sensory details/word picture Warm up discussion (3 Volunteers) PP Notes: Transitioning from Word Picture to a Full Introduction paragraph. Practice: Three prompts, 10 minutes each, plus discussion for extra creditCHALLENGE MR. HAMPTON FOR A GOLDEN TICKET

  4. Warm Up, 1/7/09 [3 min] WARM UP • What is a sensory detail? Name all the senses. What is a word picture? Why is it important in your introduction paragraph? • Do think that using a word picture in your introduction will help you pass the FCAT Writes? Explain. • Not here yesterday? BE QUIET FOR 3 MINUTES.

  5. What we know… NO NOTES • A word picture is a description of a scene or situation. • It is made up of sensory details (touch, taste, hearing, smell, sight). • Using a word picture allows the reading to see, touch, taste, hear, and smell what the writer describes.

  6. Prompt: Best Day Ever… NO NOTES • My best day ever was when I went to the park. It was the best because we had food, drinks, and my friends were there. Now let me tell you why it was so great. • It was a very hot day. Sweat was dripping down my face as a passed by the BBQ grill. I could smell the chicken and baked beans roasting over the open fire. I opened a bottle of my favorite soda. Gulp. Ice cold, just how I like it.. • VS
