Keeping Cooperation in the Cooperative Agreement • Cooperation & Trust is built through action and results in PRODUCTIVITY!!! • DOT should expect DNR to: • Respect DOT’s need to stay on schedule (mission respect) • Good communication & no surprises • Can explain the “why” behind our actions • Consistency • Clear decisions & stick by them. • Proactive & tries to find solutions • End result = projects stay on schedule, quality product, & environmental protection.

WDNR’s Role ECIP Comment/Consultation The DNR: • Is available for early coordination meeting prior to WisDOT receiving ECIP . • Reviews ECIP to determine if sensitive resources are adequately protected and identifies anticipated “trouble” areas • Does not approve or deny ECIP! Consultation & comments (work together if there is an issue).

What does DNR do with ECIP? • Review borrow and waste for the following: • Threatened &Endangered Species • Soils and wetland screening • Air photo interpretation • Floodplain (floodway/flood-fringe) • Fisheries database (if needed) • On site walk through (habitat/wetlands) • Other (pond review)

  16. WDNR’s Role During Construction • Goal is ZERO sediment discharge to wetlands or waterways • Why?

  17. WDNR’s Role During Construction • Coordinate restoration of wetlands or waterways • Comments on adequacy of erosion control currently in place (spot checks)
