  2. SCHOOL BREAKFAST • Children who eat school breakfast --- • Eat more fruits • Drink more milk • Eat a wider variety of foods • Children who participate in school breakfast --- • Usually consume fruit and milk at breakfast • Children who eat breakfast --- • Less likely to be obese

  3. BREAKFAST Changes 2012-2013 • Offer only fat-free flavored or unflavored 1% low-fat white milk • Saturated fat limit <10% calories

BREAKFASTChanges 2013-2014 • Age/Grade Groups: K-5, 6-8 and 9-12 • Calorie Ranges • Weekly Grains --- 50% Whole Grain Rich • Must Offer Daily Grain • Weekly Grains --- Must Meet Minimums (Maximum not assessed for SY 2013-14, memo SP 26-2013) • Trans Fat --- 0 Grams Per Portion • Meat/Meat Alternate --- Optional (Credited towards grains or as an extra; Included in calories) • State Reviews --- Breakfast Included!
