IC Businesses & Public Safety • Business needs PS: Workers & customers must be willing to live, work & do business • Safe passage for Customers & Employees • Property safe from vandalism, theft & burglary • Public Safety Players • Traditional: gov (police, fire, courts) • Current: joint effort (community policing) • Gov, NPO/Rel, Residents, Business (???) • Future: improve knowledge, skills & cooperation

Business & Public Safety • Historically • Limited business role in PS • No business education/ knowledge of PS • Currently • Business roles available • Limited business knowledge & participation • Future -- needed for CIC • Business plays an active role in IC public safety. • Business educators help business leaders see, understand and play that role.

Public Safety Problem Solving (PSPS) Project • Instructor • Instructions for project structure & requirements • Create discussion group (DG) for each crime. • Students • Discuss ideas in discussion group • Conduct research on Internet & in person • Present research cites & summs in DG • Write report on proposed solutions & submit elec
