Collaborative initiatives for RCEs in Asia Pacific • ‘Sejahtra’ : Well-being, sustainabilityand more meanings in Malay • Sejahtra Project • A joint initiative of Asia Pacific RCE network to find the alternative path towards sustainability,acknowledged by the members as existent within the unique traditional culture of Asia Pacific region with emphasis on the coexistence. • Key themes • Traditional Medicine & ESD • Sejahtra centre : Under construction in Tongyeong, Korea as the support center for RCEs in Asia Pacific

4. Sejahtra Fellowship – Fellowship offered by RCE Tongyeong to promote Sejahtra project through comparative research among AP RCEs performed by invited research fellow

AP Sejahtera Committee • Objective • To facilitate Asia Pacific ESD activities • To design the physical aspects of the centre • To develop and implement education programs on ESD, especially targeted for AP region • Role • To Facilitate selection of biennial AP ESD theme • To Advise the hardware facility of Sejahtra centre • To organize joint projects of RCEs in AP under the designated theme including programs, training , exhibition, seminar, workshop • Basic Principles • Voluntary participation of RCEs in AP • Commitment to be declared via official letter from the head of the RCE to Asia Pacific RCE continental network • The formation process of first AP committee to be finalized by the end of 2013

AP RCE Joint Project • THEME : Biennial Asia Pacific ESD Theme • Selected every 2 years by AP RCEs during continental meeting of Asia Pacific RCEs • e.g> Traditional knowledge, DRR, etc. • Joint activities under the theme • Thematic Exhibitions • Workshops • Joint research projects • Training for teachers • Youth program • Thematic / Methodological approach (RCE Chubu) • Thematic project e.g.>Traditional knowledge • Methodological project e.g.>Teacher training, ICT

7. AP program for locals • The Year of RCE ****** • Each year designated in the honor of one of Asia Pacific RCEs • Introduction of the designated RCE • Special exhibition, education programs etc. • Partnership with cultural wing of the country’s ambassy in Korea • Cultural/educational exchange programs • Focus existing programs on the designated RCE • E.g> Bridge to the World

8. Beyond 2014 :Role of AP Continental Network • Introduction of Global Action programme • Discussion on the role of AP continental network beyond 2014 • Five key areas of Global Action Programme • Policy Support, Whole institution approach, Youth, Educators, Local communities • What have we achieved? • What are we to aim? • How can we effectively work together? • Feedback to plenary and discussion
