Background Cultural Facilities Funding • Program created in 2006 to supplement the Cultural Tourism Program • Provides capital grants to eligible arts organizations • Grants for renovating, equipping, maintaining, constructing, and acquiring • Grants are approved by BCC in spring • Governed by Florida Statute – TDT restrictions apply

  9. History of Dr. Phillips Building Ivanhoe Foundation Funding • 1901: Built as power plant • 1986: Ivanhoe Foundation Formed • 1987: Leased to Ivanhoe Foundation • 1989: Historical renovation to building

  10. Progress of CF Funding Ivanhoe Foundation Funding • 1992: Orlando Ballet and Orlando Opera headquarters in building • 2008: $500,000 approved for CF Roof and HVAC renovation • 2009: Orlando Opera closes • 2010: Capital project work completed • 2011: Project closed

  11. Ivanhoe Foundation Funding Current Situation • Aug. 2013: Mold forces OUC to vacate Orlando Ballet and Central Florida Community Arts • Grant agreement requires five years usage after project closes

  12. Ivanhoe Foundation • Has no assets or liabilities • Requests waiving five year provision • Arts & Cultural Affairs Advisory Council unanimously recommends waiving remainder of five-year provision

  14. Action Requested: Recommended Action • Approval to waive the provisions of Section 2.11 and 2.12 of Contract Y8-CF-IVANHOE, with The Ivanhoe Foundation and forgo any proportional return of funds.
