  2. About Sergio Perez Sergio Perez debuted in Formula One was with the Sauber team in 2011. His joining was a result of Sauber's partnership with the telecommunications company - Telmex. He stayed with the Swiss outfit for two years. In 2013, he jumped ship to McLaren but had a very poor run that year. After a year, he shifted to Force India and stayed there until this season. He partnered with Nico Hulkenberg for three years until Hulkenberg’s departure to Renault. He then partnered with Esteban Ocon for two years before Ocon was dismissed in favour of Lance Stroll for 2019.

  3. On track achievements Sergio Perez scored a podium in just his second season, in the second race of 2012. During his McLaren stint, he could only manage a position as high as 5th. When he moved to Force India, he scored five podiums for the Indian outfit during his tenure. His highest rank in the Driver’s championship has been 7th in 2016 and 2017. While he partnered with Hulkenberg, the two managed to finish 4th in the 2016 championship. Perez and Ocon repeated the achievement once again in 2017. Now, Sergio Perez will be locking horns with Lance Stroll in the rechristened Racing Point team.

  4. Endorsements Perez has two personal sponsors, Telmex and Telcel - the Mexican telecommunications companies. He is also sponsored by Claro, another telecommunications company. He was sponsored by sunglasses brand, Hawkers, but dropped his relationship with them. Once they tweeted suggesting Mexicans buy a pair of shades to hide their tears when President-elect Donald Trump’s border wall is constructed. Finding the tweet offensive, he chose to end ties with them. He stated that he did not support Hawkers’ opinions and didn't find their tweets amusing. The Mexican is reportedly worth $30 million and his annual salary for 2018 was $5 million.

  5. Foundation Earlier in 2012, Perez and his family founded the Checo Pérez Foundation. The main intention of the foundation was to support orphans and children with cancer.
