  2. How does Solar Energy works? Light Energy Electrical Energy

  3. Advantages • Renewable • No pollution, because nothing gets burned • Solar power helps to slow/stop global warming • It is a silent producer of energy • Solar electricity power plants produce zero emissions • Very little maintenance is required to keep solar cells running •  Solar power technology is improving consistently over time

  4. Disadvantages • The Solar Cells and Solar Panels that are needed to harness solar energy tend to be very expensive when you first purchase them. • Solar power cannot be harnessed during a storm, on a cloudy day or at night. • Damage to solar panels • Battery and safety concerns

  5. How does it generate electricity??? Most solar panels use silicon or some other semi-conductive material. The sun rays contain photons and the hit the solar panels which contains electrons. The electrons soak the photons up and become conduction electrons. From here, the energy creates and electric charge and can be carried through a circuit.

  7. Solar Panel Solar panels are devices that convert light into electricity. They are called “solar” panels because most of the time, the most powerful source of light is available is the sun, called Sol by astronomers.
