Summary • The Global Standard is comprised of the statement of purpose and six principles. • The Global Standard guides us in delivering globally recognized competencies at different career paths. • Using the Global Standard daily in our communication practice, we can mediate many challenges we encounter in organizational communication.

Global Certification Council • The Global Communication Certification Council - GCCC • Represents the communication industry worldwide and serves as an autonomous governing body for the Global Communication Certification program. • Creates and maintains an internationally recognized standard of communication excellence based on a global understanding of key principles and job competencies worldwide. • Aims to serve the communication profession by encouraging and executing a process of credentialing of communicators who achieve a global standard at different points of their career path.

ISO Accreditation • People want to advance their careers • High awareness among among hiring managers and across industry • Employers are looking for ISO certified professionals across all industries • Securing an ISO standard will elevate the value of communication practitioners and the profession globally • The process is consistent, objective and sustainable

  22. Exam preparation • 2015 – Webinar provided to approved candidates • Job Task Analysis available • Beyond • Sample questions on website and in handbook • IABC Academy offerings to align with job task analysis • All education and training providers can be evaluated by GCCC

Examination • Candidate registers for exam • Candidate has two years to attempt and pass the exam • If Pass • Receives certificate • Enters maintenance phase • If Fail • Receives report identifying areas for improvement • Retake within two years • If fail three times, leaves program and reapplies at a future date

  24. CMP Maintenance • Annual cycle • Earn 40 points • Combination of several options • Self-reporting • Staff will audit a sample periodically • Annual status report to each CMP • Cycle maintenance fee (paid at beginning of each cycle) • New certificate issued upon completion and new cycle commences

  25. CMP Maintenance Earn a total of 40 points across a minimum of three of the following categories each calendar year:
