  3. We need to see and understand the unseen • Men make great mistakes when they lack understanding of causes. • Before we understood about germs, people had terrible “solutions” to sickness. • Note in the Old Testament how leprosy was handled! No science of that day understood the need for quarantine.

  4. We need to see and understand the unseen • We need to know that there is an unseen world that is behind the struggles of this world! (Eph 6:12)

  5. We need to see and understand the unseen • Ephesians 6:12 - For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

  6. We need to see and understand the unseen • Jesus looked behind the men who attacked Him and knew there was a much greater foe. (Jn 14:30)

  7. We need to see and understand the unseen • John 14:30 - "I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.

  11. The origin of Satan • Colossians 1:15-17 - He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

  12. The origin of Satan • Jesus is not a created being, but the creator!

  13. The origin of Satan • Jesus is not a created being, but the creator! • All things in the spiritual realm, both angels and demons were created.

  14. The origin of Satan • Did God create evil beings as evil? No. (James 1:13, 17)

  15. The origin of Satan • James 1:13 - Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.

  16. The origin of Satan • James 1:17 - Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

  17. The origin of Satan • We must conclude then that Satan and the demons are fallen beings!

  18. The origin of Satan • We must conclude then that Satan and the demons are fallen beings! • We know that angels can sin but unlike man they have no provision for forgiveness! (Jude 6)

  19. The origin of Satan • Jude 6 - And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day

  20. The origin of Satan • There are verses that hint of this fall. (Lk 10:17-18)

  21. The origin of Satan • Luke 10:17-18 - Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name." 18 And He said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.

  23. The origin of Satan • Isaiah 14:12 - " How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations!

  24. The limits of Satan • He is not omniscient (Job 1:7)

  25. The limits of Satan • Job 1:7 - And the LORD said to Satan, "From where do you come?" So Satan answered the LORD and said, "From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.“

  26. The limits of Satan • He is very powerful and very “wise.”

  27. The limits of Satan • He is very powerful and very “wise.” • He also has many allies that he has taught.

  28. The limits of Satan • He is very powerful and very “wise.” • He also has many allies that he has taught. • He is limited by God (Job 1:12; 2:6)

  35. The limits of Satan • 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 - For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

  36. The limits of Satan • Being evil he pretends to “help you” while in truth wanting to destroy you!
