Specific immunity

  • Antigen enters body

  • Use antibodies to fight (they will be produced by the body and dock to antigen)

  • Marks antigen and makes antigen stop doing their job

Specific Immunity


Humoral

  • Body is destroying antigen that is free floating

  • B Cells have antibody and MCHII receptors.

  • Antibody attaches to antigen

  • Takes antigen in and breaks it apart

  • Sends a piece of it to MCHII receptor

  • Plasma B Cells Produce antibodies against antigen

  • Produce Memory B cells to remember antigen “for life”

Humoral


Cell mediated

  • A macrophage eats an antigen

  • The antigen is presented on the surface (MHCII)

  • T helper with antibody bonds to MHCII

  • T helper activates cytotoxic T cell

  • Cytotoxic T patrol body for other infected cells (Infected cells have antigen on MHCI receptor)

  • Cytotoxic T will release an interferon and tumor necrosis factor (I- slows down reproduction) (N causes apoptosis)

  • Memory T cells made
