  6. BACKGROUND • RIs. have increased worldwide. • Rwy. Safety: complex & urgent issue due to increase in Comm. & Gral. Aviation Ops.

  7. RUNWAY INCURSIONS • FAA: #1 safety concern & top priority. • NTSB: “Most Wanted Transp. Safety Improvement” list. • ICAO: “attention by States is req. to address the problem & its impact on Ops. Safety”.

  8. RUNWAY INCURSIONS • Eurocontrol, FAA & JAA Task Force initiated Survey on Rwy. Safety. • IATA Safety Strategy 2000+: “significant factor” (Regional Safety Priority)

  9. “THERE IS A NEED FOR: BETTER EDUCATION, TRAINING AWARENESS & PROCEDURES + NEW TECHNOLOGIES”

  11. TASKS • Develop Training Module to address core issues relative to RIs. • Disseminate Training Module. • Feedback Gathering & Analysis

  15. ACTIONS • Dissemination Training Aid: PAAST Action Team Leaders regional, IATA worldwide. • Feedback from PAAST to IATA ROI. • Feedback from IATA ROI to FAA, PAAST & ICAO. • Analyze data & draw conclusions. • Identify other possible interventions.
