AUXILIARY EMERGENCY FUND • SHINING A LIGHT FOR OUR SISTERS • Created to provide assistance to eligible members for an immediate emergency • Your contributions & memorial contributions support this fund. • Let’s be prepared: • Funds need to be on hand before the emergency • arrives, so when our members call for assistance we • will be ready to HELP!

  4. What may the funds be used for? • Temporary Financial Aid when no other source of aid is readily available to help pay for food, shelter and utilities, for eligible members. • Temporary assistance for food and shelter related to Weather-Related emergencies and natural disasters, for eligible members. • Temporary assistance for Educational Training for eligible members who lack the necessary skills for employment, or to upgrade competitive workforce skills, due to a life changing situation.

  5. MEMBERS WHO NEED ASSISTANCE • On approval of the AEF: • National can provide up to $2,400.00. • Department can provide up to $1,200.00 • Funds cannot be used for existing and accumulated debts; however, may be used for the initial cost incurred due to the immediate emergency.

  6. Eligibility Requirements • Short Version: • If your 2015 membership card say member since 2012 – basically if you have 3 years continuous membership or more you are eligible to apply. • Go on the website for the proper forms.

  7. APPLICATIONS • Current forms are available from Department or on lint at National www.alaforveterans.org • Complete to the fullest extent possible to avoid delays. • Send all paperwork directly to Department, never to the chairman.

  8. GIVE • Give individually • “Shine a Light for Our Sisters” • Donate $50.00 or more and receive a citation and Lapel Pin from National. • Certificate of Recognition at National Convention – One Department from each Division contributing the largest amount (per capita) will receive a certificate and special recognition at National Convention. • Citation Plaque Award – Given to one unit and one Department contribution the largest donations to the Auxiliary Emergency Fund.

  9. FUNDRAISING • Bake Sales • Give 10 cents at each meeting • Collect loose change at meeting, other events • Grab bags • Sell used books • 50/50

  10. SHARE IDEAS • Promote the Program • “Shining a Light for our Sisters” • Share fundraising ideas on all levels through newsletters • Unit/District/Department • Legion/SAL/Riders • Flyers • Stories
