Assessments Washington Comprehensive Assessment Program Students are expected to demonstrate proficiency on the standards in: • Reading (passing score is 400 or higher) • Writing (passing score is 17 or higher) • Math (passing score is 400 or higher) • Science (passing score is 400 or higher) Beginning in 2014-2015, the standards will be defined by the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).

  4. English Language Arts (ela) Assessment Requirements Classes of 2013 and 2014: Reading and Writing--High School Proficiency Exam (HSPE). Classes of 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018: Students will demonstrate proficiency on any of the following tests: • Current HSPE reading and HSPE writing (administered in spring and August of 2014) • New ELA Exit Exam (aligned to CCSS, first administered in spring of 2015) • New 11th Grade Smarter Balanced Comprehensive ELA Test (aligned to CCSS, first administered in spring of 2015) Classes of 2019 and Beyond: Students will demonstrate proficiency on the 11th Grade Smarter Balanced Comprehensive ELA Test (aligned to Common Core State Standards and first administered in spring 2015).

  5. Mathematics and Science Assessment Requirements Class of 2014: one math EOC exam Classes of 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018: one math EOC exam and the biology EOC exam. Students will take the biology EOC exam at the end of Integrated Science III-IV. • Current Algebra I EOC • Current Geometry EOC • New Algebra I EOC Exit Exam (aligned to CCSS, first administered in spring 2015) • New Geometry EOC Exit Exam (aligned to CCSS, first administered in spring of 2015) • New 11th Grade Smarter Balanced Comprehensive Math Test (aligned to CCSS, first administered in Spring of 2015) Classes of 2019 and beyond: 11th Grade Smarter Balanced Comprehensive Math Test (aligned to CCSS, first administered in spring of 2015). For students taking an EOC in 9th grade or below, their EOC score can be banked for their 10th grade requirement if they pass the exam.

  7. Test Alternatives: Three Options GPA ComparisonA student’s grades in ELA or math are compared with others who passed the exit exam. This option is available to students in their 12th-grade year who have an overall grade-point average of 3.2. Students must have attempted an exit exam at least once. Alternative Assessment ScoresStudents may use their math, reading and/or writing scores on the SAT reasoning test, ACT or ACT Plus Writing tests, or Smarter Balanced assessments (starting in 2015) to show they have key skills. Students must attempt an exit exam at least once before attempting this option. Collection of EvidenceThe COE is an evaluation of a set of work by the student with instructional support from a teacher. Students must meet eligibility criteria and must attempt an exit exam at least twice before attempting this option.
