    11. PALMS uses equations to simulate the physical processes involved in the transport of water, heat, and mass within the atmosphere, canopy, and soil system. PALMS also considers how tillage type and timing affects the transport of water, heat and mass. Tillage roughness and direction affects the amount water stored in puddles, the magnitude of infiltration, the amount of runoff, and the depth of ponding.
