  2. What is Mission to the City? M2C is a ministry team that partners with other Atonement ministries, and with local organizations, to serve our neighbors and show Christ’s love to the Silver Spring community. Silver Spring

  3. Our Mission • Atonement’s mission is to lead people from unbelief to mature, joyful faith in Jesus Christ. • M2C’s mission stems from the church’s mission: M2C leads our congregation in serving the city in Jesus’ name through sustainable ministry.

  4. What is “sustainable ministry”? • Sustainable ministries are: • Do-able – within our capacity • Ongoing – relational investments • Practical – meeting needs • Empowering – building on existing strengths http://www.mrahayes.co.uk/work/building-bridges

  5. Objectives • Evangelize and act! “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8) • Help you plug into service. “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace” (I Peter 4:10). • Highlight your own city ministry experiences. “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works” (Hebrews 10:24). • Introduce you to our neighbors in Wheaton/Silver Spring. “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 21:31). • Help relieve homelessness, and care for people in crisis and distress. “For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land’” (Deuteronomy 15:11).
