  1. “The Most Dangerous Game” By: Alyssa Dunning

  2. “One patch of weeds was stained crimson. A small, glittering object not far away caught Rainsford’s eye and he picked it up. It was an empty cartridge. A twenty-two he remarked. That’s odd. It must have been a fairly large animal too. The hunter had his nerve with him to tackle it with a light gun”. From, this passage I now know that someone lives there because of the twenty-two. I know that whoever shot the large animal must have been really determined and brave to shot such a large animal with a very small gun. I also picked up that whoever shot the animal had very good experience in hunting being able to kill the large animal with a 22. I concluded that Rainsford must be really wise and attentive being able to point out this small spot on the large island, out of all the jungle.

  3. “Rainsford froze there, every muscle tensed for a spring. But the sharp eyes of the hunter stopped before they reached the where Rainsford lay; a smile spread over his brown face. Very deliberately he blew a smoke ring into the air; then he turned his back on the tree and walked carelessly away, back along the trail he had come in”. I can conclude that just from the one scene that Zaroff is coming back for more. I can tell because of the way he smirks and walks away from the tree, he knows Rainsford is there. Therefore, he is waiting for Rainsford to just go crazy by the time he gets back, so he will try to do something risky or something he will regret. I get from both of their actions that Zaroff thinks he is always going to win a fight. Rainsford is determined like Zaroff to win because he thinks before he does things. For example, Rainsford figured out that Zaroff was just waiting for him to give up, so he ended up not jumping from the tree onto his back.
