  4. Crucial Information • OPIRG Is… • An umbrella organization • Student funded • Operated by consensus • Inclusive and diverse • Mandated • Politically neutral • OPIRG Is NOT… • A club • Based on hierarchy

Operations… • Run by a Board of Directors • Consensus decision-making • Up to 11 active members with 2 community members • Makes administrative/financial decisions • Action Groups • Work closely on one major topic/issue • Ie: Animal Rights, Palestinian Solidarity, Books for Prisoners • Provided with resources • Meeting space, networking, printing materials, etc. • Anyone can join • Staff Coordinator • Student Member • Full Time Undergraduates pay $2.50 • Full Time Graduates pay $2.00 • Part Time Graduates pay $1.00

Key Points • Promote issues of social & environmental justice • Provide resources for activist groups • Meeting space, funding, printing, volunteers, etc. • Network with other similarly-inclined organizations • Ie: Windsor Environmental Committee, Friends of Save Ojibway • Work closely with campus groups • Ie: The Student Movement, Engineers Without Borders • Provide announcements and action alerts to our e-mail list • Host special events • Conferences, workshops, film screenings
