  2. Experience Survey of Telemedicine applications in Veneto Region • 56 isolated studies The need for a container for Telemedicine ideas, applications and best practices in order to create a common language using operational and technological standards.

  3. Vision Diffuse and adapt best practices to organizational medical-legal and technological international standards, to optimize quality, duration, and economic value. Define organizational models and technological standards.

  4. Mission Transfer know how, share telemedicine and IT experiences. To be fund raiser (participating in national and international tenders) and go-between in a regional context as well as national and european. To run training courses considering the continuous need to be up-to-date, and to select specialists in each structure involved.

  5. Mission THE MAP OF OUR SERVICES • Fund raising • Market survey and analysis • Development of information and promotion activities • Telemedicine project support and monitoring • Comparison of projects to make best strategic choices • Creation of a catalogue of the best solutions • Promote experience sharing between healthcare authorities to improve quality and management of work.

  6. Conclusions • The capacity and the potential of technology/IT developments is not being questioned. • The need for an instrument such as Telemedicine is strongly felt. • However it seems to be difficult to go beyond the prototype stages in order to make this kind of medical provision a "practical system".

  7. Conclusions • Through the Consorzio Telemedicina, our aim is to provide direct answers to all organizational, semantic, and procedural problems linked to telemedicine. • An organization such as ours, which governs over four million potential users, should steer political choices, form markets and guide the markets towards standardisation processes. • Our aim is to be able to offer integrated services which give qualified, ready and sure answers to a new kind of user: a kind of user who wants to be kept informed and who demands more and more accessible quality healthcare, in a world where travel is a critical factor.
