  7. Tips When Revising a PAR • Consider all reporting standards (MMUCC, NGA, FARS, ANSI D16, etc.) • Encourage law enforcement input • Encourage user agency input • Field test prototype • Train before and after implementation

  10. Why is Crash Data Necessary to MoDOT? • Used to evaluate safety features • Used to determine strategy effectiveness • Used to calculate statewide average accident rates based on type of facility • Used to determine if a location needs corrective action

  11. MoDOT’s Preparation for MSHP/MoDOT Integration • Implemented TMS (Transportation Management Systems) in 1998. • Implemented our first interface with MSHP in January 2000 to eliminate using a mainframe edit application.

MoDOT’s Preparation for MSHP/MoDOT Integration • In conjunction with the new report form (2002), we changed how crashes were located • Implemented distance from a known intersection as method of locating crashes • Assisted MSHP in training law enforcement officers on the new location methodology • Provided an application to law enforcement officers with routes and intersections available in TMS
