  1. PHISHING FINANCIAL THREATS ON THE INTERNET -Alisha Esshaki 8a

  2. What is Phishing? • An attempt to inquire sensitive information, like passwords and credit card details • This is done by pretending to be a trusted authority (bank homepages for example), while it is mostly done via instant messaging • Details are entered via websites which are designed to look exactly like the trusted ones An Example of Phishing is on the next slide ->>>

  3. Phishing Attempt!

  4. What to do? 2. Use Phishing Filters for E-mails, like the free spam fighter (however, this does not always work because phishers use flash, or pictures to evade filters) 3. If you are suspicious about anything, it’s probably illegitimate (check phone numbers given with the phone book, with links, check if the URL is identical to the IP address) • NEVER GIVE OUT TRUSTED INFORMATION!

  5. Great Resources: • http://www.windowsecurity.com/articles/Avoid-Phishing.html • http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phishing • http://www.spamfighter.com/News-10683-Attorney-General-Provides-Tips-To-Evade-Phishing-Scams.htm
