  2. Our newest sister school Ben Gurion High, Nes Ziona, located south of Tel Aviv, Israel.

Our first reciprocal visit • Two Senior students will accompany MrsPaition 31st October to represent and commemorate the Canterbury Regiment of the New Zealand Mounted Rifles Brigade’s role in repelling the advance of the Turkish troops towards Nes Ziona, in World War 1. • A memorial honoring our soldiers stands in the grounds of Ben Gurion High.

  4. To qualify you must… • Be in Year 12 or Year 13. • Have a service ethic. • Be involved in the orchestra, or music or history or computing or robotics or the sciences. • Be a role model who is articulate and confident, as you will have several speeches to deliver in Israel. • Need to cover the cost of travel and spending, with travel likely to cost $3500 or more. There is a subsidy of $1000 per student available. There will be an opportunity for paid work for 2 weeks in the term 2 break. • Be able to reciprocate by providing accommodation and travel to an Israeli recipient. • To be willing to learn aspects of the Israeli culture • To be willing to learn about the historic background of the commemoration.

In an essay, Describe the existing links between Ben Gurion High and Linwood College, describe how you envisage this trip could enhance either your academic or service goals and explain how you intend to further our links in the future. Due date is 14 June 2013. To be handed in to the Principal’s secretarywith full Name, email and phone contacts.
