You Can Help Prevent and END Child Abuse! - Support activities that raise public awareness during National Child Abuse Prevention Month. - Remind the parents in your life that they are doing great at a really tough job! - Take the time to get to know your neighbors -- they may need your support. - Smile and empathize with a parent whose child is acting out in public. - Start a neighborhood newsletter to let parents know what is going on for families in your community.

You Can Help Prevent and END Child Abuse! - Donate your used children's clothing, furniture and toys for use by another family. - Know the risk factors for child abuse, such as isolation or stress. - Support early childhood education programs. - Advocate for non-violent television programming for children. - Take action! Don’t wait for someone else to do it. Report Suspected Abuse.

You Can Help Prevent and END Child Abuse! - Encourage anti-bully/harassment policies at your child’s school. - Start a resource room for parents at your workplace. - Oversee your child's use of the computer. - Practice positive discipline techniques. - Baby-proof your home to avoid accidents and injuries.

  5. You Can Help Prevent and END Child Abuse! - Develop and maintain a bedtime routine. - Immunizations and screenings save children's lives. - Listen to your children when they talk to you. - Share a healthy meal together. - Provide an atmosphere where a child may ask questions.

  6. You Can Help Prevent and END Child Abuse! - Trust your instincts. Do not leave your children with people you do not trust. - Feeling stressed? Call a babysitter and take a break! You deserve it. - Feeling isolated? Go to a free parent workshop! - Use alternatives to spanking. - Praise your child when they follow your directions.

Count to 10 to avoid lashing out inappropriately. - Take care of your own basic needs to eliminate stress. - Find a hobby that you can do that is all your own. - Never leave a child alone in a car. - Expect mistakes from children. Help a child learn from them.

  8. You Can Help Prevent and END Child Abuse! - Don't be afraid to ask for help - parenting is hard work! - Tell someone if you're feeling down. - Learn new trends in effective parenting. - Never shake a baby. - Learn what to do if your baby won't stop crying.
