    5. At CSDB the Bridges to Life transition program is composed of students who are blind, deaf, multi-handicapped. The Bridges to Life transition program is not a “glorified high school program”, but focuses on six target areas:

    6. Assistive Technology Post-secondary Education and Training Independent Living Skills Work Preparedness Work Experience Transition to Life

    7. Student Success Measured by Assessments and Improvements towards goals established in their individualized transition plan.

    8. Age and Graduation Requirements The student may stay in the transition program through the semester of his/her 21st birthday. Students may live on the school campus. Students have met the school’s and state’s requirements for graduation.

    9. Culture and Socioeconomic Status The students in our transition program represent a diverse and culturally linguistic students who are deaf or blind who have a voice in their transition IEP’s.

Adaptive Technology We offer a variety of assistive technologies such as JAWS, ZoomText, Magnasight, Freedom Scientific, Humanware Students have an Individual Technology Plan Students demonstrate increased proficiency of the use of assistive technology in their environment. Each student will demonstrate increased proficiency of the use of assistive technology in their environment CSDB will acquire a variety of modern assistive technologiesEach student will demonstrate increased proficiency of the use of assistive technology in their environment CSDB will acquire a variety of modern assistive technologies

    18. They are assisted with life skills such as job placement, coaching, independent living, budgeting, vocational counseling and more. Each student will have an exit plan; Student will develop a portfolio reflecting skills and knowledge developed during the student's time in the Transition Program; Student will be placed in employment, internship, or post-secondary training program in their home environment prior to their departure from the CSDB Transition Program; Exit checklist will be developed; Data will be gathered on a yearly basis from students who have completed the CSDB Transition Program Data will be compared to national averages for students/adults who are deaf or blind for post-secondary education enrollment and unemployment; Data will show a growth in achievement of our former students They are assisted with life skills such as job placement, coaching, independent living, budgeting, vocational counseling and more.
