  2. Introduction • Oil pours out and forms a thick blanket on the water. • The spill has polluted clean water and cause huge changes. • About two thirds of earth is covered by ocean water.

  3. Debris • Carelessly tossed litter and trash end up in the ocean sooner or later. • Debris is pollution that’s easy to see. • Different kind’s of debris take different amount’s or time to break down

  4. Toxic Waste • Toxic waste examples can be chemicals, fertilizer • Once toxic waste gets into the ground rain washes it deep into the earths ground. • Toxic can kill off fish, wildlife and plants

  5. Sewage • Sewage is anything we flush down our toilet or down drains and sewers. • The travel to a treatment center and take out bacteria • The bacteria can harm and even kill living things.

  6. Oil spills and leaks • Large oil spills greatly harm both the water and the coastline. • Spills happen when companies drill for oil off shore. • Spills can also happen when tankers hit something or run aground in shallow waters.

  7. Acid Rain • Cause: When cars, trucks, power plant, and -factories burn fuel. • Effect: The gases combine with air and form strong acid.

Chapter 2: How does pollution affect marine life? • All living things in the ocean are connected In a cycle of life and death. • Plants and animals that live in or by the oceans is an important member od the ecosystem • If pollution harms any plants or animals species affect others in the ecosystem

  9. Pollution and fish • An oil spill can keep fish from breathing and poison the plants food. • Fish also be harmed by debris. • Alage would grow to fast arid use all the oxegen the fish need to breathe

  10. Pollution and Sea birds • oil spills harm sea birds. • It coats there feathers with oil then they cant fly. • Birds can die from eating the trash on the beach

  11. Pollution and ocean animals • Current carry toxic waste far and wide. • Whales and dolphins can die from pollution. • The pollution in water can effect a lot of things.

  12. How deep is really deep? • Part of the ocean floors are more than 8 miles deep. • We could not explore the ocean about 56 years ago. • Cause Scientists use submersible. • Effect we can see what happens in the ocean.

Chapter 3 : What’s being done to stop ocean pollution ? • People gather all over there states, river ,lakes and beaches to pick up trash. • Countries have set international safety rules. • The united nations created a special program that supports countries as they make their water quality better.

  14. Conclusion • Ocean life is linked to through ecosysteams, food chain and ocean currents. • Oil spills can cause illness and death to ocean life • Nations can help protect all the oceans.
