  2. Introduction • On the 7th 8th and 9th of February you are scheduled to attend three interprofessional workshops with other student members of the multidisciplinary team. • This year you will be working through patient based cases in small interprofessional groups with students from Physiotherapy, Medicine, Nursing, Occupational therapy and Speech and Language Therapy.

  3. Interprofessional Learning (IPL) • Interprofessional learning (IPL) can be described as ‘occasions when two or more professionals learn with, from and about each other to improve collaboration and the quality of a service’. • The emphasis is on developing an understanding of other disciplines’ roles and improving awareness of how effective teamwork and communication can benefit patient care.

  4. Workshop Dates & Topics The following workshops have been organised • Workshop 1:Rheumatology Case Study, Tues 7.2.12 • Workshop 2: Stroke Case Study, Weds 8.2.12 • Workshop 3: Older Adult Case Study, Thursday 9.2.12 Attendance is mandatory and you will be requested to sign in.

  5. Preparation • 1. Firstly check your group allocation for each day. • 2. Next check the time of your workshop and the room allocation for each session. • Please note your group and room allocation may be different each day so check the information carefully. • 3. Finally you will need to do some preparatory work before each workshop. This is necessary as you will need to work through the case studies explaining your role to other health professional students. • Please look under each of the workshops for further instructions.
