  2. THE CHALLENGE • Taking the risk to invest • Achieving transformation by developing excellent leadership • Achieving operational transformation by managing change though work-based learning • A partnership based on mutual understanding, flexibilty and clear business goals

Developing Leadership Impact • Previous excellent programme - re-design to meet current challenges and desired outcomes, reflecting: • A shift from technical/operational manager to a more people-focused leader, reflecting a new leadership culture • More strategic innovative responses to complex situations • Clear organisational impact • Alignment with DCC process of strategic change • Change in culture with supported and evidenced behaviour change

  10. OPERATIONAL TRANSFORMATION • Gain corporate ownership for the development of the DCC academy for ‘Leading during uncertain times’ • Ensure managers equipped with appropriate skills and tools • Provide a structure which enables effective transition and for change to be viewed positively

HOW? • Partnership with UDC to achieve accreditation of current programme in order to: • Motivate staff • Ensure work-based learning is focused on organisational impact and Return on Investment • Support in-house learning team – using Supporting Work-based Learning programme • Sympathetic use of funding to provide cost effective solution • Measure results to ensure a consistent understanding and application of new ways of working

BUILDING ON THE FUTURE HOW CAN THE UNIVERSITY OF DERBY CORPORATE CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THE TRANSFORMATIONAL JOURNEY FOR DCC? • Support change through staff development at all relevant levels • Focus work-based learning on key work and individual challenges • Managing a Mobile Workforce – for managers and for employees
