  3. Room on the ark • How many animals would be needed? • 1,000,000 animal species on earth today • Not all would go on the ark though • 21,000 species of fish • 107,000 species of mollusks • 800,000 species of arthropod

  4. Room on the ark • How many animals would be needed? • Estimated as few as 2000 species would be needed • For the sake of argument, let’s assume 20,000 species were needed • Double that for male and female: 40,000

  5. Room on the ark • How many animals would be needed? 40,000 • What is the average size of animals? • We will use a sheep as the average

  6. Room on the ark • How many animals would be needed? 40,000 • What is the average size of animals?Sheep • How much room is there on the ark? • 1,518,750 cubic feet of space • 569 modern rail cars

  7. Room on the ark • How many animals would be needed? 40,000 • What is the average size of animals?Sheep • How much room is there on the ark? 569 rail cars • How many animals can fit on the ark? • 240 sheep per railcar • 40,000 sheep = 167 railcars • Only 29.3% capacity of ark

  8. The Flood • 7:1-10  noah, his family, and the animals enter the ark • 7:11-24  water is on the earth for over a year • 8:1-19  noah sends birds to check on the earth • 8:20-22  Noah worships God, offers one of every clean animal
