  1. Program Evaluation Plan Report Board of Education Meeting September 8th, 2011 Gifted and High ability program

Purpose of the Program • Student and/or stakeholder needs addressed by the program • The pull-out program(s) meets a state requirement to provide services for our academically advanced students whose mental capacity and learning potential are so advanced as they need additional services to meet their learning needs. • The push-in program(s) are designed to address the needs of all learners to develop higher order thinking strategies. • Regular classroom teachers worked with gifted teachers in the 2010 school year through collaboration.

  3. Service Delivery Model • Gifted and High Ability Programs provide services for students in grades 1st -8th. • First grade students who meet HAP placement criteria receive a resource model every week for 1 hour and 30 minutesin the student’s home school location. • Students in grades 2 - 5 who meet the state of Missouri criteria for gifted placement receive a 20% per week pull-out program. • Students in grades 6 – 8 who meet the state of Missouri criteria for gifted placement receive daily services (one of eight classes) as part of their regular daily schedule.

  4. Deployment Level • The services are well deployed, although deployment may vary in some areas or schools.

  5. Progress Toward Previous Program Goals GOAL: Park Hill’s gifted and HAP programs will meet or exceed all state requirements. RESULTS: The annual self-monitoring report was 100% compliant.

  6. Progress Toward Previous Program Goals GOAL: Gifted students will be academically challenged. RESULTS: • The goal was not met, although there was an increase of 2.82% of students in the advanced category. •  85.8% of students were advanced, 13.9% were proficient and 0.3% were basic on the Missouri Assessment Program tests for their respective grade levels in grade 3 through 8 for the Spring 2011 results.

  7. Progress Toward Previous Program Goals GOAL: Regular classroom teachers will use high order thinking strategies for instruction. RESULTS: 90% of teachers at PDC sessions offered by Gifted teachers indicated that they would utilizedthehigher order thinking strategies immediately or try a few things in the next few weeks.  

  8. Future Program Goals to be Evaluated • Park Hill’s gifted and HAP programs will meet or exceed all state requirements. • Gifted students will be achieve at a high academic level. • Gifted staff will provide a robust, technology enhanced and challenging curriculum.

  9. Plan for Evaluation Measurable Outcomes Data Collection Methods • The annual state of Missouri Self-Monitoring Report will indicate 100% compliance. • 95% of students in the Gifted program will score advanced level on the Missouri Assessment Program. • Survey results will indicate that 90% of parents and 98% of students believe the Gifted education provides learning opportunities that appropriately challenge the students. • Assessments • Observations • Document reviews • Surveys and questionnaires • Interviews
