  4. Create and submit online accounts Create the following and submit them via the online survey: • Google account • Blogging website • Delicious account Links to account creation pages and where to submit accounts available through lesson plan webpage

  5. RSS Yourself • RSS = Real Simple Syndication • Update information as soon as it’s available • Channel, subscription • RSS Aggregater

  6. It’s all about the Google • Get a Google Account • iGoogle • Blogs (http://www.blogged.com/directory/education/k-12-education) • Podcasts • Google Pages

  7. Five Questions • Where are you from? • What brought you to IU? • What content area are you interested in teaching and why? • What does education technology mean to you? • How do you feel about using technology?

Introduction Profile Activity Answer the 5 questions in one or more of the following places: • Completely Public: Online Public Profile (Blogger, Delicious, Google Page) • Public to IU: Oncourse Profile • Public to Class: Oncourse Wiki Page • For your Instructor’s Eyes Only: Email Link from private to public to connect the places

Syllabus Workout • Get into pairs • 10 minutes: Create a syllabus quiz that: • Contains at least 10 short answer questions • Covers material from 5 different sections of the syllabus • Includes your names • Trade quizzes with another group • 10 minutes: Complete the other group’s quiz • Submit your quiz and the quiz you completed as an Oncourse assignment

  11. Syllabus Discussion • What are the top five most confusing things about the syllabus? • What part of the course are you the least & most worried about? • What do you think are the key things that a student needs to do in order to do well in the class? • Where can students go to get help?

  12. Complete Technology Integration Survey • 30 minutes to complete survey • If you complete survey early then start lecture readings and worksheet

  13. Technology Integration Discussion • What were the most surprising questions on the survey? • What was done well on the survey? • What should be changed on the survey? • Do you think your answer to survey questions reflects your current abilities with respect to educational technology?
