  1. A New “ME” Resolution

  2. New “ME” Resolution Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God

  3. Is seeing God possible today? Ex 33:18 Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.” 19 And the LORD said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 20 But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.”

  4. Surely we can see God today? Jer 29:13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

  5. Some “HEART” Observations

  6. The HEART is “inherently” EVIL Ge 6:5 The LORD saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. Jer 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?

  7. The HEART is “inherently” EVIL Mt 15:18 But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man ‘unclean.’ 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20 These are what make a man ‘unclean’; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him ‘unclean.’ ”

  8. A HARD HEART is not good 2Ch 32:24 In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. He prayed to the LORD, who answered him and gave him a miraculous sign. 25 But Hezekiah’s heart was proud and he did not respond to the kindness shown him; therefore the LORD'S wrath was on him and on Judah and Jerusalem. 26 Then Hezekiah repented of the pride of his heart, as did the people of Jerusalem; therefore the LORD'S wrath did not come upon them during the days of Hezekiah.

  9. God loves a SOFT HEART 2Ch 16:9 For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. Isa 66:2 Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?” declares the LORD. “This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word.

  10. A HEART after God still makes MISTAKES

  11. We can’t ATTAIN a PURE HEART by ourselves Eze 36:25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. 26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.

  12. SO WHAT? Heb 3:12 See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. Sin hardens our heart and clouds our ability to see God

  13. 1. We need to deal with our sin through Confession 1 John1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 8If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

  14. 2. We need to Guard our hearts Pr 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.

  15. 2. We need to Guard our hearts 2Ti 2:22 Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. Psalm 119:9 “How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word”, and Psalm 119:11 “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you”.
