  4. Goals Expectations Non-negotiables: (1) Everyone will learn (2) Everyone will engage respectfully. • 100% Pass Rate of class • 80% Mastery Rate (80% or above on everything) • Average class score will be at least 75% on unit exams • You’re ready for college math!

  5. WHAT IS PRE-CALCULUS??? • Algebra is the study of OPERATIONS. • Trigonometry is the study of ANGLES. • Pre-calculus = Algebra + Trigonometry • It’s the precursor to Calculus (the study of change.)

This is your homepage for everything in class. • Mastery Based Grading: 30% Practice 70% Performance • ETs and exams can be retaken for full credit after similar questions written and solved (or similar practice assignment completed). Must attend tutorial before you have option of retaking exam (Mon, Thurs: 2:15-3:30) • Exit Tickets (quizzes)- These will count as practice! Can be redone for full credit (after showing completed homework). Mastery on exit tickets/quizzes prepare you for success on the end of unit assessment. • Material: 3- Ring Binder with 5 dividers, Loose Leaf Paper, Pencils and Pens, Graphing Calculator • Handouts: Mr. Phillips’ Classroom Rhythm

Two Truths, One Lie • Write down two truths, one lie on your sheet of paper. • 2 minutes to think of them. • Randomly select each person to go. • They’ll share their two truths and one lie; we have to guess which one is the lie. • Person who fools the most people will receive a snack (NO EATING IN CLASS)

  8. Homework (on the first day?!?!) (1) READ Syllabus & Sign it! – DUE THURSDAY, 8/15 (2) Sign up for Remind 101 (Text @fd7826 to 81010, include the @) - Due EOD TODAY (8 PM) (3) Finish student survey for HW – DUE TOMORROW, 8/13
