Subprogram 1: International migration, changing welfare regimes and the political economy of ethnic labour market segmentation • studies on migration, • changing work organisation and ethnic segmentation in private and public sectors of the economy. • work environments, occupational health and safety and national and supra-national institutions shaping industrial relations. • It studies practices of the social partners for inclusion/exclusion of migrants and ethnic minorities • informal processes based on the mobilisation of civil society and the instrumentalisation of social networks and social capital. • informalisation of labour, • recruitment and employment strategies • institutional discrimination.

Subprogram 1: International migration, changing welfare regimes and the political economy of ethnic labour market segmentation • social capital, the local and transnational networks • career strategies of young people of migrant and ethnic minority background in cities marked by residential segregation, • complex ethnic divisions of labour and the formation of new occupational niches. • It relates the political economy of international migration and changing ethnic relations to the study of changing welfare regimes and labour market regulation and to the incremental influence of supra-national frameworks of governance in the EU and other regional formations.
