  2. Summary of section 8andall the powers of Congress? • Section 8 refers to the different powers that congress has. • Congress has the powers to lay and collect taxes, duties, import and excises, pay the debts, provide for the common defense and general welfare of the US.

  3. The wars that have been voted by Congress and formally declared by the United States Congress • Five wars in which the U.S. formally declared war against: • War of 1812 • Mexican-American War • Spanish-American War • World War I • World War II • (Wikipedia)

  4. What branches of government are war powers split between and what are implied powers? • Wars are split between legislation and executive branch • Implied powers are powers exercised by congress which are not explicitly given by the constitution itself, but necessary and proper

  5. What does Elastic Clause do? • The “Elastic Clause” enlarges legislative power by enabling congress to use anything it thinks reasonable to put these powers into action. Also authorizes congress to enact legislation to carry out powers of other branches. (section 8; last paragraph)
