  1. Please do not talk at this time February 3 HW: Test on Chapter 15.4, Fascism, Communism, and all DBQ’s on Friday with Packet Japan Paragraph due on Thursday. Chapter 16.1 Notes due Monday Pg. 21A We will look at some Primary Source Documents on Why WWII Started today. As we read through these documents, answer the questions on the handout. Please find a partner to work with and sit with them. Then get a Green Packet and a white handout. Please get a Pg. 18A/B Start of WWII DBQ and folder of documents for your pair.

  14. Now get out your Chapter 15.4 Cornell Notes. You are going to add to these notes so if you need an extra piece of paper, please get one now. You may take notes in any form you prefer. You also have the option of simply highlighting or writing on the notes you have already taken. I am going to hit the most important points from this period in history.

Axis Aggression Take Aways • Before Starting WWII, Japan, Italy and Germany all test the surrounding countries to see what they will do. • Japan invades Korea, Manchuria and China for resources and power • The USA does nothing in exchange for control of the Philippines. • Europe remains uninterested. • Italy invades Ethiopia • Ethiopia asks the League of Nations for help, but the countries of the League can’t agree on what to do and do nothing. • Germany invades the Rhineland, Austria, and the Sudetenland. • The countries of Europe do nothing, afraid that Germany will start a war they aren’t ready to fight. • The countries of Europe eventually call the Munich Conference and decide to sacrifice Czechoslovakia to Germany in exchange for peace.

  16. Pg. 19A The Failure of the League of Nations • Please set up a piece of paper with the above title • Then get a League Of Nations Political Cartoon and glue it to the bottom left of your Handout. • You will take some notes on this page and answer the questions.

Telling the story…. • Find a new partner…. • Tell the story of the time leading up to WWII. • Start with “Once upon a time, at the end of WWI, the Treaty of Versailles was signed….” • Person 1 starts talking and keeps going until they can’t think of anything else to say… when that happens they say “and Then….” and Person B takes over. • On the next slide you will see a few topics you should know about. Work these topics into your story. You can look them over in your notes now….
