AccessText Network Overview

  • What: Membership Driven Service Network. Publisher members provide alternative textbooks by leveraging an request, approval, fulfillment and tracking web based portal.

  • Why: A central place for DSS and publisher services and feedback. Based on the volume and variety of requests and methods increasingly taxing for DSS and publishers.

  • Who: Funding provided by the Association of American Publishers (AAP), Charter Publishers including Bedford, Freeman & Worth, Cengage, CQ Press, Elsevier, McGraw-Hill, Pearson, Wiley, WW Norton and the University System of Georgia’s Alternative Media Access Center

AccessText Network Advisory Committee

  • 12 committee members which includes 7 DSS and 5 Publisher members

Progress Since AHEAD 2008

  • July, AHEAD 2008 Reno: first public announcement of ATN

  • November, Agreement signed between AAP and USG/AMAC

  • December, Website Launched, Publisher Site Visits

  • January, Introductory Advisory Committee meeting

  • March, CSUN presentation

  • April, First full Advisory Committee meeting

  • May, Application testing with publishers

  • June, Publishers begin processing requests
